On My Radar: Farewell, Summer

Lately, I've been listening to Kate Miss' latest 8tracks mix, Farewell, Summer, although we still have at least another week of summer weather here.  I'm excited for the fall season and definitely looking forward to finally being able to move back to the city!

DIY: Tassel Garland

I've been a little obsessed with these tissue paper tassel garlands.  I already have some leftover patterned tissue paper in oranges and reds ready to go for this weekend project.  It's such a fun way to add color and whimsy to any space.

The NoMad Hotel, New York

The stylish NoMad Hotel is right above the Flatiron district: perfect for sightseeing, neighborhood exploring, and enjoying the city.  I never thought I'd be one to miss New York City, but I'm itching to go back next year.

Furbish

Some quick picks from the decorating site Furbish.  I came across this site through Roost's great post about 10 Resources for Affordable Decor.

Interior of the Week

This Brentwood house in the September Lonny magazine is lovely.  It was recently refurbished for a young family by Lucas Studio Inc. with a soft color palette, clean lines, and plenty of charm.

Jane Austen's Persuasion

Very excited to go see Jane Austen's Persuasion tonight presented by the Zion Theatre Company at the Off Broadway Theatre of Salt Lake City.  My mom is taking the train into the city and we are going to check out City Creek and have dinner/drinks at Bambara.

Have a great weekend!

The Dailey Method

My Living Social e-mail this morning just happened to include three ballet barre classes for $25.  I decided to take a chance and try out The Dailey Method's new studio in Salt Lake City.  I've heard you should do a class the day right after your first class to help mitigate soreness.  We'll see how it goes. . .

Happiness

After watching the documentary Happy on Netflix (Joanna's recommendation), I naturally felt the need to assess what I could do to increase my happiness.  Following the advice for physical activity and self-improvement I would love to prioritize taking tennis lessons, yoga classes, and possibly trying ballet barre.  For more social activities: tennis socials, volunteering, and dinners with friends.

Mostly, I need to minimize my clothes wishlist and think more about experiences, such as traveling.  I can't wait to travel to far off countries and experience all 50 states.  I would also love to check more things off my Mighty Life List.

What makes you happy?  I'd love to hear.

Purlbee: Nautical Needlepoint Coasters

Loving these needlepoint coasters, the nautical flags are divine.  They also included a chart of all the nautical flags and their alphabet counterparts, very fun.

Heath Ceramics

How could you not love ceramics from one of the few remaining mid-century American potteries?  These beauties from Heath Ceramics are made in Northern California and make lovely gifts.

Free People

Would you be daring enough to buy one of these Free People motorcycle jackets?  I'm strangely attracted to the tapestry moto jacket. . .

On My Radar No. 30

So looking forward to the weekend and loving all things girly, yet chic.  I picked up this lovely eyeshadow yesterday, it's so dangerous working on the same block as a Sephora!

US Open

Super bummed about Federer's early exit, but I have to remind myself that at least he's not retiring a la Roddick and there will be other tournaments.  Roddick's retirement also gives me extra incentive to keep saving and get to those grand slams ASAP.

Fall Wishlist

Well, it's after Labor Day and it's time for the shortest season in Utah, which also unfortunately happens to be my favorite.  I love the jewel tones, tailored pieces, and that I won't need to bring a cardigan to my icebox of a cubicle at work.

For this fall, I'm thinking ankle boots, polka-dot sweaters, Peter Pan collars, and skinny cords. . .
How about you?
