Interior of the Week

This bright, graphic living room has a great mix of minimalism and warmth.  I love the extra seating a bench can provide without overwhelming the space.  I'll definitely be on the lookout for benches at this summer's flea markets and tag sales.

I love the ease of this vignette with the flat screen television mixed into the gallery wall and the amazing green console below.  Very chic.

Thinking About: Sutton Sofette

Although I was leaning toward the Lorimer sofa a few months ago. . . I ended up ordering the Sutton Sofette.  It has more versatility and can be used in many other rooms when I have a bigger place and need a bigger sofa.  I also love the new fabric swatches at West Elm and ordered the ink blue velvet, very soft and cozy.  I can't wait for it to arrive!

Have you looked at the book "Good Bones, Great Pieces: The Seven Essential Pieces That Will Carry You Through a Lifetime"?  One of the suggested pieces is a loveseat.  It's perfect for small living rooms, at the foot of the bed, nurseries, even entryways.  As someone that loves to move furniture around and mix it up, flexibility is key.

Interior of the Week

I absolutely love matching twin beds.  It makes for a sharp, albeit awkward for couples, guest room.  These killer red headboards and the graphic pattern of the rug keep the room from being too juvenile.

Interior of the Week

I love twin couches mirroring each other, it is such a clever furniture plan for a large room.

Chair Roundup

I've discovered that I love chairs, too many kinds of chairs to all fit in one house.  It's amazing how the right chair can change the atmosphere of a space and add so much personality.

These are some of my favorite designs, mostly mid century modern with a touch of whimsy.  Do you have any favorite chair designs?

On My Radar No. 13

Now that I've graduated, yesterday, I can almost taste moving to Salt Lake City again and I am too excited to not look at home decor.

Interior Inspiration: Thonet Chairs

I've recently noticed that many of my pins contain Thonet chairs.  The classic cafe chair was created by Michael Thonet in the 1859, who perfected bentwood designs.  It has been consistently produced for over 150 years.

I love their simplistic elegance and classic lines.  Le Corbusier said the chair had 'class' and I would definitely agree.

Interior of the Week

Even though I'm a bit overwhelmed with IKEA furniture and need to scale back, I always find inspiration in their catalogs.  I love their furniture plans and use of textiles.

West Elm - Offset Bench

This bench from West Elm is the perfect mix of classic and quirky.  I love the hybrid of bench and storage, perfect for any entry.

Interior of the Week

I have been catching up on Emily Henderson's show Secrets of a Stylist and loved this room.  The guy was all futuristic, the girl was all granny-chic, and I was totally on board with the resulting look - Eclectic Artsy Odyssey.

I love the wallpaper, the art pieces, the pops of red, and especially that grey linen chair.  I am now officially on the hunt for anything similar: retro lines, tufting, matching ottoman. . .

Interior of the Week

I love the luxury of this room: the gorgeous ceiling beams, tufted headboard, and the patterned rug. The furniture plan is also lovely, with the sofa at the end of the bed creating a small seating space.

West Elm

I think it's immensely important for a home to be warm and cozy.

These lovely floor poufs from West Elm capture that feeling impeccably.

Interior Inspiration: Tulip Tables

I think tulip tables are the bee's knees.

"In a 1956 cover story in Time magazine, Eero Saarinen said he was designing a collection to                      clear up the slum of legs in the U.S. home." (DWR)

Saarinen's tables do just that; they have a streamlining effect and avoid visual clutter in the space.  They are so classic and can come in many variations.  Whether you get the real deal or a decent Ikea knock-off this table design is timeless.

Interior Inspiration: Bar Carts

Bar carts add such sophistication to a space.  I love the glamour of a well-stocked bar or maybe I watched too much tv from the 60's...  Bewitched, anyone?

Interior Inspiration: Butterfly Chair

As I accumulate copious amounts of inspiration on Pinterest, it occurs to me that the only reason to collate this much information is to be able to decipher what appeals to you in the space.  So I thought for the next few weeks I would pick out some of my favorite features in these inspiration pictures.

First up, the Butterfly Chair...  It adds whimsy to any space a certain fluidity to seating arrangements.  I also think they can add extra depth and texture to the space, particularly leather butterfly chairs.  It can translate to any space or be moved from room to room as needed, very classic indeed.

Side Table Designs

I love how personal bedside tables have become; they can be an expression of your aesthetics or just  a great place to store your favorite reading material.

What do you use for a beside table?  Is it neat or is it messy?

Neutral Sofa

Even though I'm many months from moving to my own apartment, I can't help but look at the different sofas I could buy to fill my imaginary living room.  I'm thinking a neutral sofa, with good bones, that I can keep for as long as possible.  Any suggestions?

Serena & Lily

They have the cutest storage solutions at Serena & Lily: these Senegalese storage baskets and rolling storage crates are relaxed, but still pulled-together.
