These Things

I'm kind of going into a save mode, which mind you isn't a bad mode to go into, but here are a few things that have caught my eye:

These Things

[Clockwise]
+Yoga Joes — I've been getting more into yoga again and these yoga joes have the perfect amount of whimsy.
+Tracksmith Singlet — This chic singlet for running could also work for yoga, right?
+Ukelele  I've been thinking about getting a ukulele for years and now that all the hipsters have them, I should probably get on that. William H. Macy is a fan, in this New Yorker article which is a great read, he said “It’s hard to be depressed around a ukulele. You just pick it up and you’re halfway home.”
+Manduka Cork Block — I only have one yoga block, which is becoming problematic. Two nice cork blocks would be a good addition to my practice.
+Tata Harper Lip & Cheek Tint — This lip & cheek tint in 'Very Charming' looks lovely. Tata Harper always has great packaging.

Cleaner Beauty No. 1

Since reading Skin Cleanse, I've been analyzing my beauty routine. Mostly using the Think Dirty app as a guide, I've been slowly transitioning my routine to be simpler and cleaner. Bonus: most clean beauty products are cheaper than the products previously on my wish list.

Here are a few favorites so far:

Cleaner Beauty No. 1

[Clockwise]
+RMS Beauty Lip Shine 'Royal'  RMS has great beauty products, their Living Luminizer is a beautiful highlighter and this purple lipgloss is right on trend.

+Herbivore Botanicals Lapis Oil  I've been eyeing this product for months and they just launched through Sephora, so it's easier to pick up some of their best products. I'm obsessed with any lapis or blue tansy products, so this oil looks divine.

+Egyptian Magic All Purpose Cream  This cult favorite is made from six of nature's most powerful moisturizing and healing ingredients. I spotted it at Costco and would love to pick some up before this winter.

+Acure Brightening Facial Scrub  This is a great substitute for my previous favorite exfoliator, ExfoliKate. Instead of micro-beads, this scrub uses lemon peel and is a 2015 Earth Day Beauty Award winner.

+Indie Lee Rosehip Cleanser  I'm obsessed with rosehip oil, so this cleanser is my jam. Indie Lee has great products with minimal ingredients and the beautiful packaging never hurts.

These Things

As always, dreaming of travel and spending money on beauty products. Here are a few of my recent thoughts and inspirations:

These Things

[Clockwise]
+Hitlist App — If I'm not planning a trip, I'm not happy. This new-to-me app is amazing, it searches for cheap flights from your home airport and also gives great inspiration for new places to travel. (I also loved this article on the best approach to booking Airbnbs.)

+Luna Night Oil — I've been dying to try this cult favorite, so when Sephora offered a deluxe sample I jumped on it. I can easily see why people love it, it's blue, which is fascinating, and it feels luxurious. It's already been happily added to my nightly routine.

+Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom — I adore all of Glossier's products and their new addition is no exception. It smells like summer and it lasts a long time, which is necessary for a lip balm addict like me.

+Everlane Ryan Muscle TankThis tank has a great tomboy cut and is made from the softest rayon fabric. I just wish they had more colors...

+Land of Nod Llama-a-Rama Sham — Loving this whimsical llama print from Land of Nod. It would be a fun addition to the bedding collection and so cozy for this F/W.

These Things

I've missed blogging, but there are so many other mediums that are much easier for tracking inspirations [Pinterest] and goods to purchase [Keep]. However, I still wanted to pull together a little sneak into my stream of consciousness each week. So here are a few things occupying space in my mind:

These Things

[Clockwise]
+Rosehip Oil — After reading about Miranda Kerr using rosehip oil, I decided to grab a bottle and try it out. I plan to massage it in while my skin is still damp after bathing.

+Lisbon, Portugal — I've been loosely planning a trip to Spain/Portugal for next spring. This hostel was featured on Refinery29 and has further piqued my interest in Lisbon. I hear Portugal is magical with great beaches, food, and cities.

+Madewell Silk Paisley Picnic Dress — I've had my eye on this dress and picked it up on sale a couple of days ago for a wedding this Saturday in Laguna Beach. J is working as a videographer and I'm attempting to be his production assistant again...

+Tibi 'Denni' Loafers — After reading this article, I have developed a slight obsession. I need to find a pair to try on before my lust spirals out. (Also: how to style a mule loafer)

+Medicine Cabinets — I love peaking into people's medicine cabinets, whether on Instagram or in real life. I'm itching to move into a house next year and I'm obsessed with having a medicine cabinet of my own to 'curate'.

I've been on the lookout for high rise jeans and this J.Crew pair might just work until I can get to Nashville and try on a pair of Imogene & Willie. I also finally bought a couple of cult favorite beauty products. The Clinique eye pencil in 'Egyptian' and M·A·C lipstick in 'Rebel'.

What has been catching your eye lately?

I'm slowly replacing most of my IKEA purchases (only minimal offense to IKEA ;-)  and this woven rug might just do the trick as a new area rug in my living room. I love the classic fair isle pattern in French Blue & Ivory. Also, the coral version of Dior's Addict Lip Glow has been sold out the last few times I've looked, so I might just have to snag it over this holiday season. Anything on your radar lately?

Vanity Project No. 2

Vanity Project No. 2

I thought I would update what's on my vanity (here are my picks from March) after 6 months or so of Sephora and Amazon orders. Here are a few of the products I've been reaching for lately...

Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Rollerball is an addictive blend of sandalwood and vanilla that strikes the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. I love the rollerball for quick application.

Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment is my go to exfoliate, a little goes a long way and this stuff is magic.

Avene Thermal Spring Water Spray is addicting, I use it as a toner and to set my makeup, so fun and luxurious. Count me in on the thermal water spray trend.

Philosophy Time In A Bottle features a high-potency vitamin c8 activator that protects skin from aging environmental aggressors and further damage. It has a really great finish unlike some serums which can get a little tacky.

Yves Saint Laurent Top Secrets All-In-One BB Cream Skintone Corrector has a lovely finish and the color blends really well.

Benefit Cosmetics They're Real! Mascara is great at catching all of your lashes and has a natural-looking finish.

NARS Illuminator 'Laguna' works with even the fairest of skin as a bronzer and for subtle contouring.

NARS Lip Lacquer 'Chelsea Girls' is a perfect neutral color and the thicker lacquer has some staying power. It's also sort of discontinued, so if you can find it, grab it!

Yves Saint Laurent 'Touche Éclat' Radiant Touch is a great highlighter. I love this video that shows you how to use Touche Éclat correctly, it really brightens and adds polish to any look.

Tarte Cheek Stain 'Flush' has a lovely berry tone, it's a little intimidating in the packaging but goes on sheer and blends well.

Stila Eye Shadow 'Kitten' is a favorite of makeup artists, a great nude pink with just enough shimmer -- my go-to eye shadow.

Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour 'Sin' is a deep plum color that builds well. I love a darker lip all year, but I'm especially partial in F/W.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Pen 'Universal Light' has better staying power than a pencil and the color is really natural-looking.

Do you have any perennial favorites?

I'm discovering that my tastes don't exactly fit my budget that easily, but slowly building my closet up with quality pieces this year has been strangely satisfying. It's nice to have quality over quantity and pieces that will last years, rather than one season. Although it's still nice to pick up something at the Gap or Zara once in a while;)

It's already the end of summer and I'm ready to stock up on some finds for fall, including a camel colored trench and cult favorite Davines Volu Conditioner. Dewy skin was all over the runways during NY Fashion Week and this Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist looks lovely for recreating the look.

Do you have anything on your wishlist for the changing season?

The summer is already waning. The last concert of the Twilight Concert Series is tonight and I've been listening non-stop to San Fermin. I also bought a last-minute ticket to the Sylvan Esso concert tomorrow night. Do you have any end of summer plans?

I love the start of a new month with a fresh budget to divvy up. I've been scouting linen sheets and might just have to add these pillowcases to my collection. I also went down the rabbit hole of beauty treatments and splurged on Caudalie Divine Oil and Davines All-In-One Milk. Lastly, Heath ceramic coffee mugs are perfection and I'm intrigued by the butler's friend wine opener. How long is your current wishlist?

Vanity Project No. 1

Vanity Project No. 1

I love Bleubird Blog's Vanity Project series. As someone that spends way too much money at Sephora and Ulta, I love peeking into someone else's beauty routine and the products they recommend. Here are a few of the products I've been reaching for lately...

Jao Goe Oil is great for taming frizzy hair and adds a lovely texture, a little goes a long way.

Korres Face Primer provides a great foundation for makeup and primer always feels luxurious.

NARS Lipstick 'Barbarella' is a lovely peach shade that I tend to reach for each morning.

NARS Illuminator 'Copacabana' is perfect mixed with tinted moisturizer and to use as a highlighter.

NARS Blush 'Deep Throat' is a sheer peach with a little shimmer. I've also been eyeing 'Taos' a desert rose shade.

Bare Minerals Hydrating Mineral Veil is a great finishing powder. I prefer the hydrating version for a more matte application.

Anastasia Brow Wiz 'Ash Blonde' is a great brow pencil. I read once that no matter your hair color to get a pencil for blondes, it's especially more natural-looking than the reddish-tones.

Josie Maran Argan Oil is addictive. Argan oil doesn't need to be branded Josie Maran, but it is important to look for 100% argan oil from a company that ensures the protection and reforestation of Argan trees.

Ahava Dry Oil Body Mist is a great moisturizing oil. I especially love to spray it on after a hot shower, as it is light-weight and smells amazing.

This Murad Essential-C Cleanser is a more recent purchase, but it smells great, offers gentle exfoliation, and a vitamin packed cleanser can't be a bad thing, right?

Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream is creamy, rich, fragrance-free and under $10. Perfection.

Molton Brown 'Black Peppercorn' Bodywash is my favorite scent. Technically it's a men's bodywash, but it's a cult favorite for a reason.

Karlie Kloss' Chop

The 'Karlie' or 'Chop' has already been named the haircut of the year by The New York Times.  The swingy, one-length, lightly layered, banged bob is a modern update of “sexy sixties” icons Jane Birkin and Jean Shrimpton. The length, just south of her chin, give or take and inch, is universally flattering according to Garren Defazio, who chopped Karlie's hair for this Vogue article late last year.

If you aren't ready to go quite that short, Alexa Chung's has been rocking her signature mid-length choppy cut for years. . .

Neutral Nail Polishes

I've been wanting to get a nice neutral nail polish, after noticing Emily Thorne's meticulous manicure during my recent binge viewing of Revenge.

The Beauty Look Book featured a quick swatch of the best nudes.  I'm leaning towards Deborah Lippmann's 'Modern Love.'  Do you have a go to neutral nail polish?
